  • Southern California Upholstery Shops

    Hi All,

Does anyone know of any good SoCal upholstery shops? I wanna get my seat re-done. I was quoted $140 from one company, but I've been hearing that it can be done much cheaper then that. Like half that price cheaper.

The link I had for a shop in Texas is locked up in my dead computer.
They had seat covers for the XS that were pretty nice and around $80.00 if I remember right. Custom made covers for $140.00 sounds pretty good too.

I ended up going to this place out here in Costa Mesa called "Costa Mesa Auto Upholstery" they're gonna hook it up for $100. So I'll send over some pictures once I get it back.

The Texas shop is in Hurst, TX. Do a google on it and it should come up. I have one of the covers on a seat, and it fit and look like a new seat. This was for a '78 Standard, but I understand they make the covers for most of the models.

Are you looking to get it re-covered, or completely re-upholstered? A cover can be bought online in several places, and you install it yourself. I think those are about $75 or so. If you're looking for all new upholstery, I'd say $140 is pretty good! I was quoted $200 by a local guy for a full upholstery job with a honeycomb gel insert, and real leather cover, stitched to match the MNS pattern. He said he'd do my backrest for free too!
            1980 XS850SG - Sold
            1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

Whether you think you can, or you think you cannot - You're right.

I'm getting it re-upholstered, it's costing me $100. I thought about a cover but just decided for a little bit more, I might as well do the whole thing. I was getting so tired of that old seat, it driving me crazy looking at it.

Did anybody ever figure out that the honeycomb gel inserts really do work good?
