    If you had a spare drive and motor just 'laying around' it would be a good project. A little expensive if you had to buy them. Just be careful to match the drive to the hp/kw of the motor. If you do it, keep us posted, us electricians like stuff like that.

      Have the freq drives gotten that cheap? They were still in the neighborhood of $500 up when I retired, although I 'spose like all electronics, they've gotten cheaper...

      Do they now make a single-phase version?

        Yes, Steve you can get a single phase drive but they're definately not cheap.

        I think Seimens do one too, but I've never seen one.

          sorry only just saw ur msg,
          unfortunately i seized that engine about 18 months ago
          and havent rebuilt it yet, i still use all the polished side covers etc on the
          parts motor im currently using atm, the polished alloy stays fine with a little
          bit of maintenance, and with the forks i had to replace them also.

            My plan is to try to find a used one. There is lots of used oilfiled equipment for sale in my area these days.
