It is not as sweet as a good set of Vacuum gages

But I found it to be way more accurate. Just the pressure from a screwdriver touch will show up as a half inch reading!

        vaccuum gauges

I have used a couple of different kinds. They all worked equally well. Just be sure not to use an oil filled set.Your carbs could suck back and drain them. This would not hurt your bike, but you'll screw up the gauges

If you go back a couple of weeks, you will find a thread I posted about mercury sticks for sale at saber cycle for about $36.00 plus shipping I think the web site is [url]www.sabercycles.com, then go to tools.

JMO, but it looks like something to make moonshine with rather than tune carbs....

Carbtune/Colortune, IMHO, is the way to go. very simple. very clean. very compact.

others may be a bit more accurate, but for me, i dont make a living at going fast, so the accuracy, IF it is less, is not that important to me.....

                Rick,
I have the same set of gauges you are looking at. They are VERY GOOD for tuning carbs!(IMHO). I did a MNS for a member in Palo Alto with my carb stix BEFORE they broke, and checked with the gauges after. I adjusted the gauges on #1, two at a time, and then put them on all 4 carbs. The gauges are VERY CLOSE out of the box, and just needed the damper screws turned down a little.
The OLD carb stix are nice, but they DO NOT sell the mercury type any more. The "new" ones seem to have problems, and that is why I bought the gauges.
The Edelbrock Uni Syn has been around for about 40 years! I used it on my Jensen Healy, and just about 6 months ago on my friends '68 Roadster. They work well for dual carb engines with a common vacuum, but on our bikes the four gauge system is more accurate.

Thanks all for the advice and tips. I did! I took a leap off the bridge and ordered the Morgan carbtune / colortune combination. The set of gauges I was looking at on ebay was $109. For an extra $29 i got the synchronizer and single plug colortune. I hope I order the right thread size. I looked up the correct plug application for our bikes and even though I didn't find any that gave that exact plug with thread size, most of what was any where near it was 14mm. Thats what I order. Any way thanks again to all, can't wait to get the kit here. I believe tuning the carbs is the last step needed before I go riding

14mm was the right one. You ordered some nice tools - you'll like them.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Seems to me like it took about 8 days when I ordered mine. If you're lucky you'll get them by next Friday. They ship pretty quick, but the package has to travel across the big pond.
