  • Fuel Sensor Rubber Seal

    Hey Guys,

I I just took my fuel tank over to the radiator shop to remove all of the rust from the tank (in which they did an awesome job). They removed the remaining paint that i had on the outside of the tank too which was a nice addition. I removed the petcoks and the fuel sensor from the tank so none of that would get damaged in the process. I found some rubber seals on MikesXS which are on the way, but I have no idea on where to find the rubber for the fuel sensor. Anyone know where I can get one of those or most importantly, what's something else that I can use instead? I know a lot of people use RTV for sealing, but since this is covering the gas directly, it's probably not a good idea to use that right?

    Hi '1,
can't find a new one and the existing seal is FUBAR?
All of the sensor unit seals that were on my tanks were re-usable so I did.
I used a piece of inner tube to make a flat gasket to seal the patchplate when I was attempting to chemically clean my tank.
This leads me to believe all you need is to cut yourself a flat gasket from a sheet of any ~1/8" thick gasproof elastomer.
Judging from mine, the surfaces are sufficiently uneven that I doubt that a sealing compound will work by itself even if it is gasproof.

You can get an oem replacement from bikebandit for $8.76 plus shipping. Bikebandit part #22895-001, Yamaha part #2H7-85753-00-00. You'll find it on the bikebandit electrical/electrical (2) parts schematic - part #23 in the schematic.

Ahhh, I went there but I was looking under Fuel Systems. Nice, thanks for that!

I did the same thing, but I remembered seeing that gasket so I just kept digging until I found it. OCD isn't always a bad thing .

Cool, well I just picked one up from BB so hopefully I'll see them in the mail sometime this week. Can't wait to get this thing rolling.
