The left skin is ripped all the way around. Should I 'farmer' it with a stainless skin all the way around and hose clamps or is there something better. I have tried eBay all winter and no luck.

H D mufflers are to short
The XS 1100 1978 are at least 31 inches from the front of the crossover pipe or about 25 inches from the back of the crossover pipe. A fat boy pipe is to short as another thread suggested.Comment

There are after-market new muffs, not oem look-a-likes but can be made to fit. Take a look at JC Witney (I think).
