    Front Brake Switch

I pulled the front Brake Switch off when I bled and cleaned out the master cylinder, the thing flew apart on me and here is a picture of what I re gathered can someone tell me how it goes back together?

    Cheers

Not sure, mine looks like a one time deal, not condusive to repair.

I have noticed that most any Yamaha from that era seemed to have the same switch. My 84 Venture used the same thing with longer wires and a few other yamahas I have looked at seem to be the same. Might be a salvage yard would have your answer?

I've not had this switch apart but there’s not that many parts so only a limited number of ways to try to assemble
Maybe a little duck tape will help?

I actually took the one on the project bike apart to repair it, prior to learning the cost fo a new one $5!.

IIRC, the brass pin goes into the empty shell in your top picture with the rounded end in first, then the black plastic piece then the brass/copper round tueb part, then the other black piece on the end with the small end going inside the spring as you push the two back together.

The concept is that the black plastic will be against the copper brushes when the brake is released and no pressur eon that spring shown. When brakes is used the spring is depressed and the copper sleeve makes the circuit.

BTW, if you loose that spring, one out of a ball point pen is a good replacement. DAMHIK

I took mine apart, and could never get it functioning again. The one on Mikes XS for the XS650 is also the same unit. Costs more for shipping than the part.
