  • Anyone put a 1100 in 750 frame?

I am looking at 2 bikes. One is titled (1100 engine on a 750 frame). I am not deep enough into these bikes yet to know what I am seeing. The bike in the first 5 pics is the franken bike. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Are you sure it's a 750 frame? Seems the motor mounts line-up too well.

No, I am not sure. That was what I was told third hand but the guy selling them seemed pretty sure. I did not think it was possible because the tank from my 850 MNS will not fit the frame of my 1100 MNS. I was hoping someone here had experience in that area. It is tagged as a 750 according the the PO. He also mentioned the wheels are different size.

Thats an XS11 frame as it turns down to the swing arm. An XS750 frame goes all the way to the back and is welded at the top going down to the swing arm.

It may have a front down tube from an XS750... Or he may have gotten numbers or titles mixed up.

          Thanks,

I had noticed the peg supports are the same as the xs1100 and they should have been different.

I didn't click on the links but if the title says that the bike/frame is a 750 I'd be very cautious about buying it. Might be a case where someone didn't have a title for the 1100 so they obtained a 750 and used that title/VIN number for the 1100.

From what I could see in the pictures, it looks like an 1100 frame. It's possible that it's just the title messed up. It's not unheard of for them to get the model wrong on the title. I would double check the numbers, and if the frame and engine numbers match and they match the title is may just be nothing more than them having put the wrong model on the title (remember we ARE talking about government workers here).

                    Hi John,
compare the engine & frame serial numbers with each other and with the serial numbers available on this list and with whatever is on the registration papers to get a better idea of what you have.
Wheels are a different size? To each other? like on every bike built since the mid 1950s? Or what? The XS11 Special has a 16" rear, the XS11 Standard has a 17" and the XS750s run an 18" and as the final drives swap so will the wheels. Main thing, is the price right?

He is asking 400 for both

I offered 250 because of the title issues.

i agree with the previous post that it is a XS1100 frame...its not a XS750....maybe the PO did a switch (in paper that is) to lower down its taxes? here in the philippines they normally do that to lower down its import taxes, not proud of that though but it is being done by others here. coz the authorities here doesnt know how to check or verify the engine.
