  • Brake bleed screws

Has anyone used regular automotive type brake bleed screws on the XS? The yamaha dealer wants over $12 each for the bleed screws (though they do come with neat rubber covers... LOL)
I plan on ordering a set of speed bleeders for my bike but need to replace the existing screws in the interim. I picked up a couple of M8x1.25 screws at Napa for about $2 each...that look very close to the originals. The main difference is the tip of the screw that seals it up. The original screws come to a point at the tip.... while the new ones only have a taper and are blunt. Has anyone run into problems running this type of bleed screw?

The only problem you will run into is it leaking. If it doesn't leak once you tighten it, then no problem. Try it and let the rest of us know how it works.
