My first gear is slipping like crazy and I was wondering what was easier, replacing the clutch plates or just buying a whole new assembly(basket and all) off ebay and throwing it in there. It's so bad that I have to start driving the bike in second gear. Also if anyone has the clutch assembly for sale let me know, I could use a working front right brake caliper as well. Thanks.

I'm wondering why it slips in first, but not second... but simply putting some new heavy duty clutch springs in there ($16-$25) will probably fix it... if it's just a slipping clutch and not the gear messing up. Is it like a typical clutch slip.. just lets the motor rev up with no other noises, or is there some gear gnashing noise also?

Sounds like the dreaded but easily repaired 1st/2nd gear issue. See the tech tips on the dremmel repair technique. Like Randy stated, clutch shows up worse in higher gears.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
