Ok second question first as it is the quick and easy one, that is your auxillary fuse. I see someone upgraded your fuse box. Also looks like they might hav a wrong size fuse for your signal circuit, it is typically a 20 amp, but I am not as familiar with the XJ series. I typically take the wires form that auxillary fuse off and hook the gorund back to the same screw tp the frame, then take the hot and run it to one of the fuses in the new box.

Question number one, I typically turn the petcocks to off which should stop the flow of fuel. If it don't then you can put a inch clamp of some kind on the fuel line, or bring your garage gas can to the bike and hold it up so you can drain the gas fron the tank into it before you remove the tank.

Removing the tank is pretty easy, just pull the fuel lines form the petcocks, pull the bolt from the rear of the tank, pull the electrical connecter at the back of the tank on the right side (on the special model anyway) that connects your low fuel light/gage. Then pull up at the back and rearward on the tank and she will pull loose.

And good luck on removing the crap from the sensor.

I wired up the Aux on Tsunami for my handlebar-mount GPS unit. On SWMBO's 'H, we used it for a set of auxiliary fog lights.

Answer, whatever you want to use it for that takes no more than 10 amps, and does not overdraw the alternator, which on this bike equals good frickin luck!

Sounds like you need to rebuild a petcock, which means see the part about using a pinch clamp or something like it.

Somewhere around that area is the matching connector. It also has a red a black wire to it and comes from the harness. Should be the only connector that looks just like it in that spot.

You do NOT have a float on the end of the arm!! Go to the auto parts store and look at a "universal" fuel gauge. You will see a float on the end of the arm. Try to get a "cheap" universal kit, and use the float from it to put on your gauge. That should fix it!

It NEEDS to be able too live in gasoline for years! If it's NOT made from brass or steel, it may not last. It would be MUCH easier to find a float out of almost anything, and use it. Try a boat shop, and see if they have a "replacement" float for one of the outboard gas tanks. They will be made of the type of plastic needed to resist the gas. JAT
