Sorry... at first could only think of a smart A$$ reply for that one, which might have gotten me censored or banned here ...
If it’s hard to operate I’d suspect that it has some oxidation/corrosion inside.
Had that happen on a standard set. Took em apart, cleaned what was cleanable and smoothed out the contact area on the inside of the lever with 1000 grit sand paper (aluminum part that fits up against the rubber goodie with four holes).
Hey Mro:
I have a thick skin and a singular wit so; It probably would have been OK
I realize that I was a little vague.
I'm rebuilding the Petcocks waiting on the parts.
I was wondering weather the orings or seal that goes around the lever should get some kind of lubricant to keep it working smoothly.
I'm asking since we are dealing with neoprene and gasoline.
I use a little dielectric grease on the "O" rings. As gas will be flowing, the grease will wash out, but the rubber parts will NOT tear before their time.
Can you tell I'm drinking wine????

Like MRO said, it helps to polish them. When I rebuilt mine, one was rough so I sanded and polished it. Now one side is a little stiff, while the other one is as smooth as silk. One of these days I need to polish the other side, but that means draining the tank and then I couldn't ride it.

Tank is off and empty now.
After seeing Randy's paint job thinking I want to do that too.
Problem is I'm antsy to start the bike since I did a considerable amount of work to get it to the point where I could try and fire it up.
Think I'll see if I could borrow the tank from XS650 for an engine start.
