    JAT...
Not long ago i was intimidated by motorcycle carbs....the members here helped TREMENDOUSLY!!!!
My work on cars as a younger gearhead, and now working on these Yamaha's....

As Ray stated, go up at least one size on your pilot jets..... the bigger cylinder size is going to increase the volume of the combustion chamber. by sending the same amount of fuel, with extra air, mixture will be too lean. stock jets may not be able to be adjusted enuf to make it right. you can always adjust the larger pilots in a bit (lean them out) if too rich (Colortune works well here for a good reference point). ive got 125 mains in 'Sunshine, and with pods/ 4:1, i get good color on the plugs when testing it. i would guess that Ray is right on as far as the main size as well.

    Good luck!!
'81H (my first XS ) "Grey Ghost"

SS Brake lines w/ new M/C's
    LED Brake Lite
    Needs paint....

It is better to be thought a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt....

The filter towers on the petcocks also give you the difference in height for your reserve setting. At least on my special they do, since one pipe is longer inside the screen.

If your slide isn't lifting, that would definately cause havoc. I have heard that "plasti-dip" can be used to repair them. It is some rubbery compound used to coat the handles of pliers and adjustable wrenches and such. I have thougt about the possibility of using "liquid electrical tape" which is probably the same thing, just a different color.

The fuel leak could be a sunk float if it isn't the fuel valve. I have had carbs that leak fuel around the valve, but it hasn't happened directly on mine. The unthreaded valve seats that have an oring seal can do this, so that could be a check.

I think there were a couple writeups about GSXR 750 Slingshot (?) carbs working on an XS11.

Might be time for a turbojet conversion, with afterburner.
      Ich habe dich nicht gefragt.
