  • Trouble with air filter

I have a 79 Standard. Can't seem to get the air box to close with the air filter. It's a parts n more replacement 150123 which is listed for my bike the oem number matches the part for my bike.

Is there a trick or tip don't want to force it.

    TIA

Had the same problem. When I compared the new with the old the only diff was the foam on the new filter. Scraped it off, been in there for 3 years now.

There is a ridge inside the airbox that the filter fits over pretty snugly. It's always been easier for me to fit it into the top section first then work the lower cover on.

That sounds like what's causing you problems. FWIW

Yes filter seems to keep poping out of that ridge. I guess I'll try to trim or bend the filter so that its a better fit.

        Thanks

Try removing the foam, if it's on yours, like SFerinTEXAS is saying. I would see no reason for it really. IMHO

The words push harder under your avatar; make alot of sense.

Since its not your avatar I'm dealing with; I'll just remove the foam.
