  • Crash Bar Screws, anyone know where I can get some??

    Hi All,

I just purchased some really nice crashbars from eBay for a pretty reasonable price. They didn't come with any screws though which I already knew. Anyone happen to know where I can get those from?? I've checked around but haven't found any.

Those typically mount with the engine mounting hardware that is already in place.

It depends on the crash bars. There are two point attched bars that you can use the current mounts for, but if you got the 3 point connecting type, the top front mounting bolt will have to be replaced with something longer like all-thread. This is a pic of the three point style.

And here's the two point style...

If they are 3 point mount you'll need a longer bolt for the middle one that mounts on the engine mount. Ready rod or all thread, treaded rod works well. It's avilable in S/S and metric sizes. If you need longer bolts for the others you should be able to get those from the bolt bins at the hardware store.

Tod beat me to it! It is the top one---not the middle.

                allthread

If anyone is thinking of using allthread, it helps to cut the piece long enough to use a buddy nut on at least one side (two nuts on that side). This can help with torquing the allthread. I originally thought that the threads would adhere inside and become difficult to remove, but that was not the case.
