Nope. The Vetters are all ABS as well. No fiberglass was ever put in a Windjammer of any series. This includes the lowers, trunk and saddlebags as well. Vetter sells a product called Hotcha that is supposed to be great at repairing all the Vetter parts, and any other ABS items.

Damn, that's the second time in my life I was wrong. The first time was when I thought I was wrong about something but was actually right.

So, next question, is it possible that they are glass re-enforced ABS? They do seem to last very well. Hmmm.

For those of us without a currency converter, that's somewhere in the area of $1,067.00USD. I was curious, so I looked it up. That's more than TWICE what I paid for my bike!

Things here in South AFrica don't come cheap. When the word Bike, boat or plane is in the sentence, the price doubles up. Give you some examples, I can by a complete car engine for about R3500, Bike engine R8000, boat outboard for about R12000, and we recently redid out Cesna's engine, and was cheaper to rebuild the motor (R35000) than to purchase a new one. The micolite's Trike motor wasn't replaced, but we paid R6000 for the starter.

So as you can see, cars are the cheapys here in SA. Bikes boats and planes are not for the poor, middle class people can just afford to have it, and rich can obviously buy and replace anyway they want.

No, straight ABS. It seems to be fairly inert material but you have to be careful about any holes you put in it, if there are any cracks they WILL grow, that is what Vetter sells the hotcha kit for, to repair stuff like that. It's rather like glass, if a crack starts you can often stop it by drilling a nice smooth round hole at the end to relieve the stress.
