    Athedra...

You should have no problems keeping the 750 FD w/ your new (1200??) Big Bore... do you mean 1196?

You'll probably just enjoy it more! More grunt for takeoff! More power on top end!

750 FD's just as tough as an 1100... unless you plan on riding like Trbig does all the time, that is....

Man... sorry to hear your crank broke... geesh... bent valves sound kinda easy & cheap now, huh???

Lotta $$ & work, but you'll like that BB! Send us a pic w/ that big 'ole smile after your first test ride, ok???
    Hang in there.

Motor arrived about lunchtime today. Still in plastic wrap. To scared to open it

The tank is back from lining, and everything that stayed behind after the motor and tank got removed got checked and fixed where needed.

So in short when she starts tomorrow, I will take some pictures.

Well, shoot. I have an extra crank in great condition that I would let you have, but I imagine shipping a 35 pound hunk of iron to South Africa would be cost prohibitive.

Any determination on what caused the failure?

That's the first time I've EVER heard of this happening. These bikes have a VERY heavy duty automotive style crank.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

What the hell could break a crank? Hydrostatic lock? Thrown rod? But if it was a thrown rod that broke the crank, you should have been able to see it through the gaping hole in the engine block!

Not meaning to hijack the thread or anything, but you've installed an oil pressure gauge on your 11, and it works properly?

I'd be interested in seeing you post a 'how to' thread on that one!
I'll have to check, but one of the members on this list was selling a banjo bolt like Randy described already machined with a threaded port to which you could mount a pressure gauge, either electric or mechanical. Port gets positioned so it points to the gearshift side (left) of the bike. Mechanical gauge mounted to a short pipe makes a nice installation. Drawback is that you have to look down to see the guage. I had planned to put an electric gauge on mine, mount the read-out up on the Vetter fairing. Have not done it yet. Price for the modified banjo bolt was $20.00 when I got mine on '08, includes shipping.

Couple other threads on this topic, do a search using "oil pressure gauge" and some alternatives will show up.

Will ask the mechanic to check and see if he can find the cause of it all. Will let you guys know if he does.

                  Feedback

Engine sounds as if it has more "umf" than the 1100, and believe me, it does have more "umf". I will take some pictures tomorrow.

Bones did her maiden voyage tonight from work to home. Twisting her ear was great. I feel there is a vibration going over 150kph, so will have to see what I did wrong somewhere.

Nice upgrade, and seems to be better with the 750FD than the standard 1100 was. Pull away is as if I had the old 1100 motor and FD in there.

                  Great upgrade..........

So, was this a Wiseco bore conversion, or is there some other way you got a 1200 engine?
