Any idea how many were produced, and how many are still out there. Excluding the ones in barns? Rough guess?

the ones in barns

Yamaha will know how many were built and a polite enquiry will most likely get that number.
That's reasonably easy to do.
Searches of licencing records across the world will show how many are currently registered.
That's a load of effort but still doable by the truly motivated.
What's really hard to find is, where did the rest go?
Wrecked, engines robbed for nasty little racecars, abandoned attempts at customising, rusting away behind folks sheds, carefully preserved as investments and so on.

47 may be the years + models count?

sorry lads
If i had high speed I could search the threads better. As it is I click on anything then go watch the grass grow while I wait. Spent some time watching the grass yesterday and found out that this question has been asked by numerous people previously. Sorry to waste your time. If I have any success I'll post it for all.mack
