  • Paint - again.....

this subject has been touch so many times, but have a question not yet been asked.

Where on the motor side would you start using high temperature paint. I fidgitted with some satin black paint (norml QD, bought it at the hardware), did my rims, shaft, and with the extra, I just sprayed the rear of the motor (Starter and mid driver area). The paint seems to hold perfectly (Bout 300km later)

From what point would you need to start using High temperature paint?

O, BTW, for a quick fast "new look" change on your bike, just spray your rims. Will post a pic of it as soon as I get round to taking one. The small cheep change on the rims, gave Bones a completely new look, and was even asked what polish I use (even though I didn't touch anything other that what I mentioned above)

    Hi Athedra,
to make certain sure it didn't burn off, I'd use hi-temp paint on any engine part except the oil pan that had cooling fins on it.

Bummer, no pic of my oil pans
BUT I've got three XSes with painted pans without any problems except one where it has a slight leak and when the dirty oil is wiped off it took some paint off too.

well at least I've a pic of a filter cover painted as a consolation

BTW, 500 degree engine paint from local auto parts store (semi-gloss) was less than $6.00 High temp adhesion promoter same price. 1200 degree about double for either one but only had it in flat.
