  • Getting New Grips...Size?

I'm trying to buy new grips for my xs11 and I'm not sure what size to buy because the throttle grip looks like it is a 1 inch circumference while the left grip looks like a 7/8's. Does anyone know the proper size to buy?

7/8".........throttle side is bigger as it goes over throttle tube. Comes as pairs.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

so if i order a set of 7/8's they will fit over the throttle properly? As in, it will be sized right even though it says 7/8 for the pair?

        Yes. That will fit.

Hey BWalker: I'll give you a tip on how to easily install the new grips. This actually can be applied to any rubber parts (side cover rubbers) that need to be streached on for a tight fit. At a local drug store buy some rubbing alcohol. Fill the new grip with it - and then shove it over the bar end. You will have a few seconds to move it around before it sets (the rest of the remainder of the alcohol will evaporate & then the grip will seal). The leftover alcohol will come out the bottom hole in the grip - if no bottom hole then just fill the grip & then dump back out the alcohol & quickly shove it on the bar end ( i would douse the bar end with alcohol too if done this way) I have done this quite a few times & it works slick - cheap too. This method makes the grip very slick to be able to slid it on the bars. This is a trick how they get rubber grips on the ends of gold clubs - Dan

If they are rubber grips, I've had success working something thin between the grip and the bar and using dishwashing soap as a lubricant. Pry with a very small screw driver and pour soap do between the grip and the bar, work theat part of the grip and then repeat, trying to get the soap deeper. Then just tug and twist. Hard.

If they are old, cut them.

If you have an air compressor with a blowgun tip take the tip and slightly push it under the rubber and squeeze the handle. The air will push the grip off of the bar.We use that method all the time to attach and reattach rubber pieces where i work.

Just do not pry against your turn lights control assembly. The switch will snap right off!
