Bi xenonon h4

TomRodgers: Instead of the 90/100w bulb I will recommend you to buy a bi-xenon H4 set. The installation is easy and you will have a much better light. It use only 35 watts and the plug that today goes into your H4 bulb will fit right into the wiring that comes along with the set. The plug that today feed your headlight bulb will only feed the relay, it is basicly plug and play. The current to the ballast in the set is feeded directly from the battery (also 2 cables in the set for this ,but maybe a bit too short.),and your instrument lights wil also be better. I have had my set mounted for 2 years without problems,and when my bike buddies have seen the difference - they have also installed this. I have used "diane-shop" on ebay as a supplier,but there is a lot of sellers of such equipment,they are not expensive at all - I will say it is the best investment you can do to improve the headlights ! I use the bulb colour 6000K which is white. There is also some threads about xenon light on the forum,you can search for them. Good luck

Reading through it, it looks like the 4300k puts out the most light and has a yellow tinge like a normal headlight. Yellow helps you see contrasts better... sorta why shooting glasses have yellow lenses. (Shut up Montreux Blue..)


BUT... this seems cheap enough and isn't a big draw on the charging system like the light I just bought. (90/130) What I wonder... is it looks like it is designed for a car and you get TWO units per order. If this is true, then you could split that cost with someone else that had the same style as you?? Just a thought.

I'm tempted to get one of these also. I'm going to be doing some west/southwest Texas, New Mexico, Arizona riding next month. I'd like to get as much light out there across the desert as possible. Gotta be able to see the critters.. and those killer tumbleweeds (Nature's version of mobile concertina wire) coming! I wonder which puts out more light... 130 watt halogen, or this HID?

Hi Tod ! Well be sure that you get a BI-XENON H4 set,and there is sets for motorcycle available - includes ballast,bulb and wiring set. But it can be a good idea to buy a BI-XENON H4 set for cars,you will then have one ballast and one bulb in spare for your bike If you buy a car set for you and a buddy - you will miss one wiring set,but wiringsets sold separately is also available on ebay. I forgot to mention that I have an even better xenon on my SF - it is a 55w set,but they are only available as car sets,but then I have the extra ballast and bulb ! The 55w is giving more light then the 35w,but I am not sure they are street legal?

From what I've heard anything over 55/65 is illegal, but with all the super bright lights on the new cars and motorcycles, I don't think anyone will notice. That's the main reason I stayed with the 55w low beam, it's for the town cops, the ones here are ticket happy, a burned out licence plate light will get you a $101.00 fine

The problem is that many people never aim thier headlights, or they aim them high to get every last 'bit' of light from them. This makes the low-beam seem better but makes the high beam good for attracting low-flying aircraft or UFOs.

If your headlights are aimed correctly, it would be hard for the cops to tell your high-power light from the variety of poorly aimed lights roaming around.

It is a MUCH whiter light and takes a bit of getting used to, but it sure beats the yellow bug light Montreux Blue uses!

At least you know it's me coming up in your mirror. I noticed a big difference as far as people get out of my way now, it probably annoys them, and everything glows more.

Your right about the importance of aiming your headlight correctly. It shouldn't just be aimed off into space, it needs to reflect off the ground at a distance related to the power of the beam and the speed you want to travel. other wise it will just disappear off into the darkness without lighting your way.

nokya makes a similar bulb... it says it's 100 watts but really if you read the fine print it's less watts but has the equivelance of a 100 watt bulb mine was blue and it worked great until for about 1 year then the high beam warped the glass directly above the cup inside the bulb and it throws the high beam into the tree's i'll try to post a pic sometime of it. the philips motovision worked pretty good.
i still want to get another nokya though. just don't expect alot of longivity out of it.

also for those who have read bob's book he mentions something about the stock ignition causing problems with the head light being dimer at idle. but he said he would talk about it later and he never did? anyone know what he meant? was he talking about the key swtich or the ignition kill switch or what?

You haven't noticed the light gets dimmer when your idling? I'm sure that's what he is talking about and it's because of our "weak" alternator at idle, when your riding it's fine.

I've used the 90/130 in my 86 venture for many yrs. Only problem is when i brake at low rpms it dims somewhat. Installed 2 led brake-taillite bulbs and is much less noticeable. Burned the low beam out yr. or so ago-the reserve lighting worked. But i can really see the deer now!
