Looks really good blacked out. Not a fan of the 'buckhorn'/Harley bars, but it's your bike.

As far as your signature; Special light, gauges, tank, front-end... If I had to guess, you probably have a special there.

Looks good .I am planning on doing the same to one of my SG's .

I was thinking of going gloss black but the flat black looks good. Do you plan to do the forks and carbs in black?

I did the forks except for the bottom. I want to leave that for now...thought it was a good look. I was told by numerous people to not paint the carbs. I want to paint them...think it would go nicely with the rest of the bike.

I've never seen anyone paint the fork tube stanchions before. Don't they have to slide in and out of the fork leg bushings?

Had the same thought Phil. My instinct tells me it would either dork up the seals or the paint will get worn off pretty quick from the movement in the suspension.

cant paint them. will get FUBAR quick. Looked like hammered dog sh!t and cause issues with the seals ( DONT ask how i know this..not on a bike but on my truck )

as far as the carbs go, those can be painted (i.e. midnight specials), and there is a guy on ebay, oldskoolcarbs, that emailed me this....

they looked AWESOME on ebay, and i have seen them sell for like 300+ bucks, but for what he is charging to pull the things COMPLETELY apart, ultrasonic clean EVERYTHING, paint, bake, and reassemble... 225 aint bad. as soon as tax time comes around, im gunna do it to at LEAST one set of carbs, ...then maybe "steal" SWMBO's jewelry cleaner and try it my self on the other...

Friend of mine mentioned to me that you can dye your forks. As far as I can gather, they dip it into some acid that stains the chrome to a smoked (black chrome) look. I will find out what acid it is and get back to you.

                  painting the carbs?

Takes just a little longer to polish the tops and bowls.

I was told by most to tape them off and do not for any reason paint them. So for now no.

It is a 500 degree engine paint I bought from autozone...im thinking it was duplicolor. I will let you know officially.
