I did use the linkage kit from them (full length no cutting) And no bends at all in rods - I don't know why they did that in the pics on the site. You don't have to bend them at all just a straight fit under the the old set of pegs. Get the kit with the extra outside tube on it for rigidity. Makes all the diff in the world. No bending of rods etc. On my xs650 just had the threaded rod & it would flex - no flexing with new kit they have now. The arms are just the regular brake pedal (set at 6:00) and cut it & drilled it to accept the bolt from the linkage. This goes under the front footpeg - it clears it just enough to be able to leave it on there. The clutch side same thing - use the shifter peg (has to put it more forward than 6:00 to reach - maybe 8:00) Again shift rod full length & went under the front peg, then cut & drilled the shift peg. If I have a passenger they use these old pegs for their feet - more relaxed forward stance for them or a change for the driver.Josh Yoquelet -- I'm having dreams of my XS

Hey Daveyg: If you look up on the tcbroschoppers.com website they have pics of the install showing both sides of an xs650 - mine is the exact same but on a xs1100 - my rods go under the timing cover for the shift side & just in front of the alternator cover on the brake side & once again just under both footpegs (this is for the xs1100) I keep the orig. pegs for the xs650 too when I did the install - hook up the front 1st with your rod to the front pedals & then with your rods attached to the front find out were to drill the shifter & or brake pedal that is now attached in a downward maner. Mark you spot on the it, then cut & drill it. You don't have much metal to play with but it will work - just have to drill is straight - good luck & its the most comfort you'll ever have ridin' - Dan'81 XS1100 LH - Midnight Special - been lookin' a long time for this one.

I the took a M10 bolt and TIG welded it into the Hinge-able part Screwed the peg on and that was it. About a week later I had to buy a new set of pegs since they vibrated loose. The second set I used lock tight, and sofar just lost the LH passenger foot peg.
I went for the short pegs and has a fairly small OD. I also capped my Handle bar ends with BMX weight caps. To give an even look else it looks odd. Only thing I had to do there was cut off a the rim on the Throttle rubber because it kept catching on the cap. Nice even look and in my case chrome. The guys I got it from has it in almost any colour you can think of, including what they call alloy black set. Also remember theses are made of Aluminium, so if you fall with it once, you replace cause it doesn't bend, they simply just tear out of the thread and ends up somewhere next to the road where you cant find it. I don't know if you get them in stainless or brushed steel. very possible but never looked into that part of things.
So to add forwards would be fairly simple, but doubt if it would be drive able like that. Had a look at my frame this morning, jumped on the bike and hanged my feet roughly where there could be forwards fitted. Extremely uncomfortable, and they will stick out very far since you the only via-able place I can see to fit them is on the front engine mountings, and you need to bring them out far enough to clear your cooling fins.
