hi guys i've noticed latley that my steering seems a little stiff at times, almost like it just wants to go straight, not a hugh problem but i just wonder what is making this happen all the sudden.

also lately the bike bogs down at times, like only 1 cyl is firing, i let off the throttle competly then hit the throttle and everything comes back again, any ideas?

No expert here, so might be speaking out of turn.

The firing could be a loose or shaved pick up wire. So could be that one of your coils are dying and when you back of and re-open it touches again making both coils active again. Could even be a loose pick-up for that matter. I would start there if I where you.

The stiff steering could be a number of things. First check if you dont have a wiring clamp getting stuck somewhere, or even a cable or wire pulling tight somewhere. Then check you front tire pressure. Will do that if it is under in-flatted. If not those, check your steering bearings. They might be dry or even worn out.

Hope that gives you a starting point.

Check the steering head bearings. They might need service or even replacement.

Sounds like the classic PICKUP COIL problem to me. Remove your left engine cover and start the engine. Tug on each of the ignition wires and see what happens.

If the engine quits or starts misfiring, mystery solved.

That is exactly what you are describing sounds like.

You can also pull the 4-wire connector on the TCI and test with a digital multimeter. If you don't have a DMM I suggest getting one - they're cheap and really come in handy. Holding the connector such that the slots are horizontal, put one lead on each of the 'top' slots and check the reading. Repeat for the 'bottom' slots. Should be 720 ohms plus or minus 20%. If you wiggle your wires around at the pickup coils and the readings start jumping around you need to redo the pickup coil wire fix. If you do have to redo it, I strongly recommend you do the fix from two inches or so from the pickups all the way back to where the original splices are underneath the gear shift lever. The fewer solder connections you've got on those wires the better. Also, waterproof heat shrink is a very good idea on the connections under the gear shift. Water can get in where the neutral switch wire exits the sheath and short them out otherwise.

I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

I'm going to address the stiff steering problem.I'd pull the triple tree apart, clean and pack the bearings. Also closely check the front breaks you might have a caliper hanging up.Good luck
