    Athedra,

The correct float height is 23mm +/- .5 mm. I did this with a credit card as well to make a go/no-go check. Cut one side at 23.5mm the other at 22.5mm as long as the smaller one hits and the larger oen does not they are good.

I also checked mine with air and gas before installing and for me it was no 4 that always leaked until I switched from automotive type fuel line to the Briggs and Stratton yellow stuff I found at a local hardware store. It does not take much to dirt to hold one open. There is somethign getting itno the no 2 valve or if you have not replaced them, it may just be that worn and need new ones.

As to the center stand, I stand on left side of bike, left hand on the handlebar, left foot on the centerstand step, right hand on the seat rail about midway back of the rail. Pull up and back with right hand, pull back with left hand and step down on left foot pulling right off the ground at the same time. Typically she goes up wihtout a fight and I have to let off at the balance point so she does not slam down on the stand.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

You can get manual petcocks from Parts N More or Mikes XS.
I used the Mikes XS ones and I love them.

Mail order shouldn't take that much longer over there.

There are petcock repair kits on Ebay most of the time. Just make sure you get the right style (there are 2: special and standard). The special kits come with everything for the 2 petcocks and the octy. The std ones you have to buy one kit for each petcock, usually.

For the center stand, get off the bike, standing on the left side, push down the center stand with your right foot. When it contacts the ground, gently push the bike away from you until you feel the other side of the center stand touch the ground (so that you know both feet are down) then, pushing down with your right foot, lift with your right hand (grab handle, saddle bag bar, or seat, whatever your bike has). Once you get the rhythm going, it is very easy to put on the center stand.

As for only leaking on the sidestand, your float level may be too high on that one carb. Unlikely if you set them all the same.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...
