Electrical Conversion Help Needed

Geneborg, I have the 5 wire harness on my 81 with the 79 motor. It is exactly as DGXSER's picture shows. I am using the 81 coils, there is no ballast resistor on mine. I simply plugged the TCI into the existing 81 harness and started it up.
I do have the 7 wire hookup on my 79 special but it is stock. I did change the coils on the 79 to Accel's and that made removing the ballast resistor a necessity.
I tried to take pictures tonight of both the 81 and the 79 TCI connections. I apparently shake far to much as the pictures look like I was running while taking them. I will get some better ones tomorrow of the 79 TCI on the 79 harness on the 79 bike. There is not much sense in me taking any pics of the 81 as DGXSER has posted a fine example already.

If it's any help, here is a photo of the two units side by side the 4RO ('81) TCI is on the left. The pin functions are marked. Notice that the '81 doesn't use the ballast resistor connections marked 'ST' and 'R'. Also note that when installed, these boards are flipped over. HTH

I got all excited to be able to look at the picture comparison, but am unable to open up or go to the pictures. Is there any other way you can them?

Don't you have adobe acrobat reader? Just download it for free from adobe.com, and you can open it up very easily.

Also, anyone can create a .tif file from another document, just by printing the document to the "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" printer. It creates a .tif file instead of puting it on paper.

I found out what my problem was in opening the pictures of the TCI. I was using Mozilla Firefox vrs Internet Explorer and Firefox was blocking viewing the photos and diagram.
Those pictures and the diagram of the "older" seven wire TCI are very helpful.

I have the same trouble with firefox, sometimes I can't even view my own photos! Tried all the settings, but can't seem to solve it?
