I have attached my speedometer to the bike. I attached the drive cable to the speedometer, but cannot figure out where on the bike the other end screws in. Please help guys!

If you have a Standard, it threads in at the hub on the front axle on the left, inside the fork. If you have a Special, it's in the same spot, but just slips in (no threads) and is held with a retaining bolt. You might have the wrong cable, there are 2 types.

      picture

can anyone post a picture to where the end should attach into the bike?
I looked forever and just do not see anywhere that the other end could go.

This side view of my 79SF shows where it goes to on the front wheel/axle. I dont have a pic handy of where it actually goes in, but if you follow the lowest cable in the picture you will find it.

I am beginning to believe that I have a special. I guess i must have the wrong cable. Any clue where to order the correct one?

                Go to

and then you can identify which bike you have. At least it shows what bike it started out as. The information like yr, model, etc really helps those who can help you. This makes sure you get correct info for your particular bike. Yes sometimes the parts are switched and off of many different models and yrs, but at least we have a starting point.

                  Kmccaslan,

If you would be so kind as to poast some pics, the group here will gladly sort out what parts you have from what model and in same cases even what year.

It is not unusual to find one of the affectionately termed "Frankenbikes" that have a mixture of parts from different models and different years. It is fun for all to guess and inspect to diagnose it.
