    Mounting Bolts

    Garth,

I'll post some piccys of the brackets fitted as soon as I work out how to do it (unless it's the same as on the UK forum).

The four bolts holding the fairing to the brackets are M8s. I'm not sure what size the two bolts betwen the lower fairing frame and the bike frame are. There were a couple of short bolts in there already holding the oil cooler bracket in place. I had to replace them with much longer hex head screws and a couple of spacers to push the oil cooler forward a bit (clearance to the lower fairing bracket). The two bolts between the top fairing bracket and the headstock are either M6 or M8. Not much help really, but at least it's a start. I'm fortunate that I have boxes and boxes of old nuts and bolts (always strip stuff before I throw it and save the fixings) and so tend to find something for most jobs without ever knowing what size I'm using!

Have you got the lowers as well?

      MPP,

Excellent idea (why didn't I think of that instead of struggling). I'll move my socket too. I'm sure to need an extra one as well. So, what extra toys have you wired in to your fairing then?

Be careful adding too many "gadgets" in there. The charging system is just barely enough for the bike, and can't handle much more.

Mine has a volt meter and an (electrical) oil pressure gauge. Also a cigarette lighter.
I had an AM/FM/CD with two 6" speakers. The problem I had was the radio/CD would shut off when I used the turn signals. The sound system was removed and the holes covered.

              Piccys

I'd be interested to see some pictures of your cockpits to see how it looks with gauges. if you have any.

                Electrical Load

I read somewhere that there is 10A available at the auxiliary fuse. I'm running heated grips on mine which don't take all of this (I'm not painting a very good picture of living in England here). I have to use them carefully though by not using them on short journeys, only when I'm on the open road and turning them off before the end of the journey to let the battery get a good charge. I'm thinking of fitting auxiliary riding lights but I won't be able to run them at the same time as the grips. I'll need a volt meter to keep an eye on things. I'd like an ammeter but I don't fancy running high current cables to the cockpit.

                    Photos

                    Garth,

Looked at your fairing, very nice. Wish I had the square headlight version but mine's off an SF, winds me up that the front indicators are round and the rear square. Just me I suppose.

Here are those photos of the brackets fitted that you asked for.

Just get a set of special rear lights to match the front, and thanks for the pics , when I got my fairing yesterday I was able to match it up on mikes otherr 78 and I figured out , all I need now is a 12 pin connector some wire and a headlight connecter and oh yeah a windshield !

If you want to run heated grips and or heated clothing, you can hook it up to a 12 volt dry cell battery like the kind used on alarm systems and recharge it between rides. They are small so you can carry several and you can get them from Cabelias for about $20.00 with the charger included.

Radio Shack will have what you need there. Look for the Molex connectors in drawers. Don't expect the store people to know what you're talking about though. Be sure to get the right gauge wire too.
