If someone wanted to replace just the bottom half of the engine casing... and use 2h9 top and 5k7 bottom... yay or nay?
Bearings and internals would remain 2h9.

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.
(stole that one from I-dont-know-who)
Problem is with fitting the bearings.
Limited bearing sizes available.
Could get lucky and one of the four sizes available will work.
Only plasti-gauge can tell
IF you can shave about .05mm from the case, and line bore the crank and trans shafts, it MAY work. problem is the cost of the machine work to make sure it's correct. IF you are lucky it may work well for a while.
The ONLY way to know is measure EVERYTHING once you dry fit the two cases together.

XS1100 SF Bob Jones worked on it!
Don't mix them up unless it's the ONLY option available to you. At this point in time there are lots of engines around so if you need a new lower case, Buy a engine, use the cases and keep the extra parts for another day.
