bike won't start

Ok.Well the pickups should have wear.Are they dirty or do they actually look worn?If worn then the gap must not be set right.
Are the pickup coil wires ok.That is usually the thing that fails with the pickups.
I still lean towards fuel problem though.Have you tried spraying starting fluid into the carbs?

Haven't checked the wires for the pick-ups yet, just got a new can of starting fluid yesterday.

The little raised lines that you gap the timing shaft to look like they might be worn down a little. But I re-gapped the pick-ups to compensate for the wear.

Did you get a chance to spray stating fluid in the carbs?

I know it is gapped right and I have great spark. Not so sure about the timing, never timed one before. I didn't even get a chance to touch it this weekend.

You mentioned that you stripped to replace pistons. Then you did all the timing and things but still get front fire on 1 and 4. Just a thought, did you do your cam timing correctly?

Re-look your cam timing. If it is correct there, check your wiring at your pickups, and then check you coil wiring. Also see if you do get spark from both your coils. On min, my left hand coil does 2 and 3, and my right hand coil does 1 and 4.

When Mine didnt want to start the first time I found a wire shaved off inside my pickup casing. See if you dont have a broken wire in there.

The shaft floats in the end of the crank and is driven by a dowel pin, as you can see.
You will need to do some surgery to find out what it's hanging up on. Loosen it up and make certain it is seating properly. Make sure the drive pin is inserted into the hole.(I don't know if it is visible. I have not looked so, just a thought). Mine did not give me any such problems when doing the gap check.

Umm...Dan...I'm pretty sure that's a pic of the front brake system of a bike (other than an XS11) and not a pic of the ignition system of an XS11...surprised no one has mentioned this yet...

The coils were wired backwards from what the wireing schmatic showed. Swapped the spark plug wires bike started right up.
