  • XS/XJ triple trees interchangeable?

    Hey, guys-

I posted a couple of days ago regarding swapping handlebars on my XJ100. The one respondent apparently didn't realize that the XJ1100 has some funky CAST handlebars, not the regular tubular style that are so easily changed out.

The cast handlebars are bolted onto the triple tree, as opposed to being held in place in a clamp.

Here's my plan: replace the triple tree from my XJ with one from an XS, to get the clamp-style mount for the handlebars. Does anyone know if the XS/XJ triple trees are interchangeable?

One last idea (thought of, but not thought out) is that if there's room to do it, maybe I'd look at mounting some Harley-style handlebar risers after drilling mounting holes. Several bikes have similar setups, the Honda Valk and Shadow 750 are two that come to mind immediately.

I'm not too big on drilling holes in the triple tree if I can avoid it, but I REALLY hate the cast handlebars.

    What do you guys think?

I know this is an old topic butt...I just swaped out my XJ bars for some tube style bars a couple of weeks ago. I used riseer from an ATV/off-road bike to just barely rise off the triple tree. I'll try to get some pics on Monday.
