Over the weekend I cleaned the carbs again and installed some green monster coils. The xs runs better than ever. runs up to redline with no hesitation or power loss. This is the wild ride I always heard of. The problem I still have is at idle it will pop (cough) just a little out the right side pipe. sound like maybe a little exhaust leak? my exhaust has shorty mufflers welded on a not so great headpipe. any ideas or anyone getting rid of an exhaust system. Thanks again to everyone for your help this last weekend

Does it pop while idling, or while your riding?
If Idle, just turn each of the two idle mixture screws, on the carbs of the offending side, out 1/2 turn. This should reduce or eliminate the pop (if it reduces, go another 1/2 turn.). Do 1 carb at a time, as it may just be one of the two.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

If you look at the carbs, on the front (toward the motor) just above the choke rod is a little round 'tunnel' facing up on each carb.
If they have never been adjusted, there may be metal caps on them. If not putting a small screwdriver down the hole you will find the screws. Clockwise is leaner, and counterclockwise is richer. You want to go a touch richer to get rid of the pop.
They are easier to see if you take the tank off.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Did you sync after the rebuild? When is the last time the valves were adjusted?I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.
