Hi Chris & welcome,
a smaller tank can only look good if it ain't empty a long way from a gas pump.
If your bike is a Standard the smaller tank off a Special will drop right on and the differences
in fuel senders and gas taps won't bother you if you are creating a bobber.
If you want to go smaller than a Special tank I doubt you'll find a drop on.
If you have access to expert welding, you could cut out the tunnel from a Special tank and weld on
the outer shell from an XS650 Special tank.
At a guess, the capacity of such a hybrid would be ~2 gallons.
