  • Engine compatibility Question

I have an 81h that just developed a serious internal problem. coupled with some very exsesive wear.

Since I also found an engine for a 79sf I have decided to go with it in hopes it will work on my bike.

Does anybody know of any problems I might encounter?

The new engine has both its coils and cdi box which seem to be in pretty good shape. Will I need to use those or can I stick with the ones already on the bike?

Watch out for carb jest sizes... and thats bout it. Oh, I dont know bout the yics stuff... but you can keep all electrics anyway... pick ups and stuff... IMHO.

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

      Mixin' goodies

To play it safe swap all the stuff that goes with the bike onto the motor cause the 79 coils are diff. from 81 . Just to be safe.

        Re: Engine compatibility Question

You will probably want to use the 81's pick-up coil in the 79's engine and use the 81's brain box as well. I did something similar. I put an 80sg engine into an 81h bike. There was one wire that I could never figure out and it nevr was a problem. If you run into the problem, i will try to figure out what color it was. It was near the right side cover.
