  • Electrical details needed

I'm looking for a bit of details on the "safety" part of the electrical system on my XJ110. Since I got the bike it has been operating with the clutch and side stand switch bypassed. Heck the side stand switch is long gone, along with the mount.

I don't really need the side stand part, but would like to be able to pull in the clutch and start the bike when I pull a bone head maneuver and stall the bike.

I basically need the details of the diode block (which I don't have) and the relays involved. The electrical diagrams that I have are sorta dirty and hard to read, and it doesn't look like they go into too much detail in that area.

    Any help is appreciated.

Don't have them but I think Catatonic Bug has an XJ manual on his site. Might have the electrical diagram as well.

Here's a link to CB's web page. Over on the right hand side you'll see the link for the XJ manual.

Thanks for the link. The electrical diagrams are somewhat had to read, but may be useful. I really have to dig into the bike and see exactly what all I have to replace. I will likely have to do some fancy relay work. I'll have to find time to do this all too. If only I didn't have to go to work......

          Shut off switches

          Hey K,
My J doesn't prohibit me from re-starting while underway due to human mishaps(!). It might be because I've by-passed the clutch safety switch. Most of these switches are closed=normal types, meaning that if there's continuity in the circuit all is well. That's why if you just connect the two wires together everything will appear normal to the monitoring system.
You may want to consider that. Mine will still shut down if I put it in gear, clutch in, and put down the sidestand. Doubt that you'll be deploying the sidestand at highway speeds...!!!! Just a thought.
