  • Carb sync'ing

hey all..real quick...im about to place an order for some parts...

not as easy, but can i use a twin sync guage to do a 4 cylinder engine?

sync 1+2....sync 3+4, then 1+4 by balancing the two "sides" ?????

Tom, I synch my bike using only a single Mity Vac gage hooked to one cylinder at a time. Next time I have access to a four carb synh gage, I'll hook it up and see how close I am with my method. Last time we checked it, I was pretty dang close. I would say your method would be pretty accurate. JMHO.

Don't see why it wouldn't work, it would just take a little longer to accomplish.

You can, but it is a real PITA. Also, no matter how much it defies logic, if you adjust #1 it will cause a change in #4. There is no way to see that using a twin synch gauge on a 4 cyl engine. It will get you close enough to date girls from Kansas though.

You can get em spot on with a single gauge.
That's all I used untill a month ago.
Friend gave me a 4 gauge set up.
One did not work, so just used three.
            Second gauge froze
            No bigge can use two.
Reversed the gauges after sync and they read a little different.
Went back to using just one gauge.

Merc sticks are most likely the best way to go.

Ivan The Terrible and Ivan The Great were both notable Czars. I am not notable at all, hardly worth even getting a neat clich'e little after name. So, they used to call me Ivan the Not So Terrible, but they stopped that since I wasn't notable enough.

Mods, if you want, you can delete this post, since it really isn't all that important anyway.

Yes, we COULD but we won't, as it points out the "true" Ivan.
And just so you don't feel alone, we used to call my son "Alexander the grape" when he was still in his moms womb. He still hears it now and then.....
                      Thread content,
I just picked up a set of 4 vacuum gauges as one tube on the carb stix broke. I have yet to try it, but it WILL be soon.
