  • Oil Filter Cover Gasket Problems

    Hello everyone,

I messed up my ruber O-ring type gasket on the Oil Filter Cover. where it bolts to the block. I am about 400 mi. from home and don't have time to wait for one to arrive (local deaLER said the part would take 5 working days to arrive)

Can I use some RTV sealent and the the gasket (that has a crease in it) I would figure I can, but I am new to bikes and would like some reasurance and mabe some advice. Mabe even a place where I can find one down here in the East San Francisco Bay area.

    Thanks everyone for your time,
    Vincent

Smear some grease on the new oring to make it stay in the groove until you bolt it back on.

Any Advance Auto sells the Fram or NAPA has one as well. You could also have an o-ring made, try a truck fleet shop or farm supply (place that makes hyd. hoses etc.)

        Good Luck.
