  • Plexistar II mounting. Pictures?

I'm feeling pretty incompetent right now. I am actually going to ride a 600-pound machine that I put together myself? When I can't even figure out how this windshield goes on? What else is my subconscious mind hiding from me that I couldn't figure out but covered up anyway?

Here's the problem. I have this Plexistar II windshield that I stripped off one of my bikes that I don't ride very often to use on Incubus, the fabulous running XS11. I am encountering a fitment problem. It seems likely that the bottom of this windshield should fit behind the front turn signals on this xs1100F. When I do that, though, I do not see how the bottom mounts could ever find the fork legs.

I know these are regularly fitted to our bikes. Can someone post, or email me, a picture of how you have accomplished the bottom mounts?

This is after I removed it, but I left the mounts in the same position as they were while on the bike. There's really nothing to it. The hose clamp just wraps around the fork tube, and then you swivel the post to adjust the angle.

Thanks, CB. You're right, pretty simple. I just needed to see a picture so I would know where to look for that last adjuster. Found it. Got it on.

Yours is a lot prettier than mine. Mine already has a bunch of obvious miles on it. Of course, so does the bike.

I had only used it for a couple weeks when I replaced it with a Vetter fairing and sold it to another XSive. It really was still brand new. They make a plastic polish that is supposed to work pretty good for buffing out the scratches though.

In the case of my Plexistar it would also have to buff out some cracks that one of my sons put in it by dropping something against it and then not telling me hoping that I wouldn't notice long enough for him to get away with it. It worked. I don't know which one did it and they both deny it...

This will do for now, though. I have a Vetter I could put on it, but I already have Vetters on three bikes and I hate to hide my pretty newly painted tank behind one. I might still use my Vetter with the Cyclesound, though.
