electronic flasher relay

I keep looking but haven't found a difinative answer. Does a 79 xs1100 special need a 2prong or 3 prong electronic flasher relay for things to work correctly?

2 prong, you might have to reverse the terminals in your wiring harness if it doesn't work the first time.

not sure but here's food for thought...on my 1980 mns i purchased a 3 prong automotive flasher. after a great deal of head scratching and cursing and posting to this board the result was this....
you WILL have to swap 2 of the wires in the keeper/harness at the flasher end. i cannot say for sure that the 3rd wire/prong is necaesary, but that is how i got mine to work.
if you need to know which 2 wires to swap, PM me and i'll let you know. i made note of it at the time.
