  • Cant get my bike to start

I'm new to fixing bikes myself, so any help would be greatfull. I know the battery is charged, but when I try to start the bike it turns over for a second and then acts like the battery is dead. it makes a clicking sound on a part that I have no idea what it is of it its supposed to click. I'll try to post the picture. The blue arrow is pointing to the part that is clicking. Hopefully someone can help

Check your ground points. There is one on the top rear bolt of the middle drive unit. Clean both ends of that small cable and where the negative battery cable bolts to the frame. Also the main positive lead that runs from the lower solenoid post to the starter can corrode. The starter end is under a plastic cover under the carbs. If it hasn't been done, it's a good idea to clean and dielectric grease every electrical connection on the bike at some point in time. A fully charged battery should be about 12.6 volts when sitting an hour after charging. HTH

That's generally the sound they make when there's not enough battery to start. You might try jumping it off a car (not running) and see if you get a different result.

And what Phil said (I've got to learn to type faster )
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

I concur with these guys, along with adding that you need to replace your fuse block! That's a nasty rat's nets you've got there! A new, very nice replacement is available on post #10 of this thread for $10 (shipped), including the connectors. You just provide the spade-style fuses.

          get a digital voltage meter

even if the battery test fine, hook it up to the battery and when you hit the starter button, if the reading goes way down then your battery is toast DAMHIK
