    Will it fit???

I just recently picked up a 1980 XS11 Special for 100 bucks. a guy has had it sitting in his shed for 15 years and just wanted it gone. Everything on the bike is sound, as a matter of fact after a few days of tinkering the thing is already running, but i need a new tank and i have just bid on a tank from a 1978 xs 750 on craigslist and i need to know if it will fit. Someone help me out?

i doubt it , the xs1100 takes a very specific tank , i have tanks here that dwarf the stock xs1100 tank and they don't even begin to fit . i do hear however that you can use either the standard or special xs1100 tanks no matter what type of xs11 you have . maybe someone else will chime in , but i wouldn't hit buy it now on that xs750 tank , i seriously doubt it will fit .

The 750-850 tanks do not have the cut out on the bottom edges to clear the valve cover.

          Any others that will?

Is there any other tank other than the xs11 tank that will fit, because I've been looking hard for one that is inexpensive and in treatable condition, but i'm coming up short. They are real hard to come by up here in the northeast.

You could try eBay or send a PM to member Andreas, as he can probably help you with an XS tank. I don't know of any other tanks that would fit without modification.
