kerker 4-1 issues

My Xj has a Kerker 4-1 pipe on it, and it is in dire need of repacking.

I see that there's a pan head screw on the can, and removed that. Problem is, the end cap seems like it's very happy where it is, and doesn't want to come out.

Is there some trick to pulling it? I don't want to damage the pipe.

i just made a make shift slide hammer out of some really long bolts and some washers that just barely fit in the hole on the end cap . there's a small lip there that the washers can catch on . if you break it i didn't tell you to do it lol .
