    Rubber Carb Needles and Seats

This will be short and sweet as I'm at work and don't want to get busted by network nazi's. So what year vulcan needles and seats will fit a 1978xs standard? I've saw it on here before but cannot find the thread. Looking for the rubber tipped needles. I wanted to pick some up tonight on the way home. Also how much do these typically cost. Thanks.

Mikuni still makes them for the late XS and the XJ don't they?

        Tod,

They do make the stock ones, but they are pushin wih o-ring seal. The older carbs had the screw in style seat. There has been debate on the fit of the viton valve with the screw in seat, but the XV model seat is a screw in that matches the size of the old style carbs and has a fitted viton valve.

What model year of the XV920? Any and all? Would you recommend these over the stock needle and seat? I've got two leaky carbs and the gas in air box blues!

I honestly do not recall what years, some other members here do know though. I have an 81 so it already had the viton seal valves. I know a couple other memebrs that swear by the viton being much better and longer lasting.

Search through my posts for 'Viton' and you should find my write-up on upgrading 70's carbs to rubber tipped float needles.
