Reg/rectifier wires

Hey, folks. I just bought a used reg/rectifier off eBay for a spare. Previous owner had one fail, so thought I'd snag one when if price was right. Anyhoo, it has 5 wires going to one connector and only two wires going to the other; whereas the current one on my 78E has five plus three wires. Anybody know what's up with that? Will it work? Haven't had time to install and test yet.

Read an article on this the other day. On your old rectifier there are two ground wires and on the new one only one ground wire receiver. The cure was to tie the two grounds together in the one connector. The author claimed this would work fine. Makes sense but i have not tried this. HTH
