Will this backrest fit a special?

Ok, I have a 1980 standard XS-11 with this back rest on it. Will it fit a special? Any information would really be appreciated!

The picture is a little small for me to see, from what I see it looks exactly like the backrest on my 1981. If it is the same, part of the attachment goes into the seat frame rail which I do not think would work out on the pre 1980 models.

I'm goin' with "No."

I found out that the specials and standards are different just enough to make hard bags mounting hardware and racks/trunk hardware NOT fit.

But then again there's the option of making things fit with irreversible modifications. I chose to not use a saws-all and rely on hose clamps where the mounting hardware doesn't match.

That is definitely a different mounting system that utilized on my SH rack.

I can confirm that that rack will NOT fit a '79 Special. I will say that the mounts for the '79 and '80 Specials are different. I have a grab rail from an '80 Special, and there's no way short of a blowtorch and welding rod that it will fit my '79 Special.
