Ask ...ask...and ask. Looks like a decent bike from what you see there. the miles are reasonably low. That milage sounds WAY high to me though which could mena he is running it REALLY lean which can kill the pistons, see the thread on "Pistons". Bring a compression gage and check the cylinders for compression.

I would also recommend you read this....

Ask till they are tired of answering, then ask some more till you feel you know more about it than they do. Then decide.

HAGGLE!... If you go through the MC check list for new purchases and things pass then try and get that price down if at all possible. Try starting around 8 or 9 hundred... maybe even 7? Keep your testing results to yourself as much as possible (don't want that owner thinking he's got a diamond amongst coal lol). Also, picture doesn't have the emblems stated... on the tank or the sidecovers. From that picture, does look like a good find to me just the price is a little on the steep side for my taste. Like DGXSER said... ask ask ask. Any mechanical part on the bike ask about it. The more is wrong/needs replaced, the more you can justify in the owners mind it's worth what you're offering, ie...

Brakes - need new pads? master rebuilt/clean? old rubber lines? rotors good?
Forks - are they air-or-spring? any leaks? ever rebuilt?
Carbs - last clean? broken pieces? (anything you can find out here is great)
Tires - were the bearings changed when tire was removed?
Any steering head wobble? Test ride if you can. Odd sounds? 1st or 2nd gear feel good? If it fires, you can feel the headers warming up at first by touching them (or temp light if you've got one). Are all 4 warming up?

That's kinda the basic stuff, which I think is mostly found in the techtips, lol HTH (Hope this Helps)

One more point that gets reinforced over and over here, do NOT take the owner's word for what work has just been completed on anything!! I once bought an old truck really cheap. The guy told me the rear brake had just been repaired. I pretty much glanced the thing over and test drove it, bought it. When I got it home, I looked at the rear brake and found the brake line to the drivers rear wheel cylinder was broke off, bent around and had masking tape over it!! Also the recent engine rebuild was well at best poorly done if done at all. The fuel pump had one stripped bolt and a gasket made form an envelope that was not even cut out, just the lever pushed through it! And it did not cover the entire flange. Found this one chasing down why I had an oil puddle in the driveway.

So, ask, ask, and ask. Then check check and check anything they tell you.
