I have a set of snap ring pliers that have replaceable jaws. It comes with four different jaws, but none of them would reach that snap ring. So, I took the longest set, put them snap ring holes then put the pliers in the back set of holes (normally, the rear set of pins would go in those holes). I then had to pull the pliers open to squeeze the snap ring, but it worked. I was able to remove and replace all of the snap rings in my carbs with no issues like this.

It's not the best method, but I already had the set. I just saw pretty much the same set at NAPA today for $15 if you want to go that approach.

I always buy snap ring pliers that have replaceable tips. And if I need a longer reach, I'll pick up a couple of small allen wrenches (I think I paid all of .40 each for them) the same size and grind an end on them. Instant long reach....
