  • Broken idle mixture screw tip...tip

OK... so you dont have to search...

The problem is, there are still tips sicking out on the inside.. and I cannot put a pin on a pin to push it out.
I tried with pliers, flat surface.. but that seemed to have a riveting effect. Any ideas? I figured a dentists drill, acid,... but thats a bit radical.
Do any other idle mixture screws fit, or must they be original XS? I have 78E.

It ain't easy but can be done. I worked on mine quite a few times before getting the tip out. I don't remember what finally worked, but will look when I get home and see if anything jogs some brain cells.

Last time I had to do this, I set up a very fine Dremel diamond burr in my drill press and drilled carefuly down through the brass. You could try the same thing with an appropriately sized numbered drill

I lightly ground a flat surface on the pin tip.

Let me know where you find replacement needles. I do not recommend the K&L kits.

Called my local yamaha importer... bout 10$/screw. Just get a code from the microfiche. It helps em find the part.
