Just for S&Gs the other day, I pulled the plugs out to check to see how they were burning. I thought the bike was running great but I just wanted to know.
After pulling all the plugs I found that all of them looked pretty clean. Not even Tan. #2 looked brand new. No soot, nothing. When I first set the carbs up months ago, I wasn't able to see a difference in the burn using my colortune. So I set all the mixture screws at 2.5 turns out and syced and let it fly. Like I said the bike ran great. I had good throttle response a ton of power and I was happy.
The other day I decided to give the colortune another try. Maybe I was just in a hurry the first time to start riding. NOT maybe. I was in a hurry. Anyway..I set up the colortune and started adjusting. When I got to #2, I had blue with a lot of "White" flashes and then eventually it wasn't burning anything at all.I would just see the spark. I rev it, I get blue with a FEW white flashes and then back to blue with more white flashes at idle. I adjusted the screw out little by little until I would see a slight orange and stop, and start turning it back in. As soon as the orange would be gone. I would start seeing white flashes again. So it seems I have more than just an idle mixture problem.
Any Thoughts??
I didn't resync after the last colortune. My carb sticks are at my dad's house where I last used them on his Venture.
While sitting here typing this "post" A light bulb came on. I did NOT have the YICS Eliminator installed THIS time. I know I need it for the sync but how important is it for the idle mixture?? Should I do it again with the Eliminator installed?
I'm hoping I don't have to pull the rack....AGAIN
Thanks
