xj 1st gear

on a prevous thread i was looking for advice on my bucking first gear problem. unfortunately it looks like first has coughed up the ghost. its gotten to the point where it doesn't want to shift into first and if you give it to much throttle it gets hung in-between. anyone near or in indianapolis who has already successfully corrected this same 1st/2nd gear problem willing to take a crack at giving it the dremel treatment i would be happy to pay labor, lunch, and all the beer or soda you can drink for anyone interested.

One additional note...a couple of us XJ owners have done this fix, and have removed the oil pump to do it. Looks like the XJ pickup screen is larger than the XS screen, and work goes faster if you take out the pump.

Sounds like you may also have worn shift forks, not always a problem with this fix but it comes up from time to time. Fork part numbers are included in the parts list.
