    bummer

the bummer part is, even if you do find an obstruction in the crank vent breather, your cam cover gasket is still bad and needs to be replaced. I just did mine last weekend. I only wish I were closer, I'd gladly help you replace yours, its not a difficult job at all.

      trial and error..

SD would be a bit of a road trip,

I looked at the parts diagram and if anyone tears down one of these engines..

you will HAVE TO replace the o-rings, i operate a machine that has a few hundred o-rings on it sealing 2 flat plate surfaces,in a hi heat useage 140C+ (284F) o-rings cannot be reused, they flatten to the mounts and will not return to round after heating.

we have tryed every type of o-ring material there is and it just boils down to time and temp, after so long at such a temp the o-rings are shot, and leakage will start.

we have tryed all types of material, from cheap 2 cent o-rings to $30 each..
      (glad it's not my money)

so the point is, 30 years is a very good run for a set of o-rings..
But all our "old girls" just need some TLC and the help of a few good friends
(with a few beers to help things out)

      Good Luck!!

lunatic , yes i wish i was closer. like you said, it will still need to be replaced.
i did take the breather hose off and prayed it was clogged and that was simply the problem....negatron....it was fine.
that said, i'll try the yamabond and/or it will continue to leak till i sell it.
        thanx to all that contributed.
